Kennington House

Kennington House is a low energy home nestled in a small rural village in Oxfordshire. The house comprises two intersecting pitched volumes that form an L-shape plan. This layout divides the house into two distinct zones, carefully crafted around a corridor axis that seamlessly connects the different functions within the house, ensuring a harmonious flow from one space to the next.

The house itself is thoughtfully positioned on the site to minimise the impact on the surrounding landscape, whilst capturing the views of the garden and maximising solar gain. The design works with the sloping terrain, and the smaller wing steps down to forge an intimate connection with the surrounding landscape, while a palette of local stone, timber, and zinc lends the exterior a sophisticated yet rustic charm.
